#ootd Vacation Edition + Labor Day Vacation Recap

Hello Everyone! I have been out on vacation for the past few days and as amazing as it was to lay out on the beach drinking margaritas and piña coladas it feels oh so good to be back to writing and sharing my daily outfits and tips with you. I’ll tell you a little bit about my trip before I give away the details of my vacation outfits.

IMG_4955The destination was Destin, Florida. We decided to head out there with a couple of friends and instead of flying we thought it would be a fun idea to take a road trip…let’s just say that we will stick to flying everywhere from now on! We arrived in Destin and was immediately welcomed by warm breeze and an awesome resort. We stayed at the Tops’l Beach and Racquet Club Resort. It was very nice to have a condo style room with full kitchen living room and 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms. The resort had a bunch of amenities such as a gym, tennis courts, nature trails, tiki bar, and the best one of all beach access!! We literally walked to the beach in less than 10 minutes and took in the beautiful baby blue waters and white sands. Due to Destin being very much a tourist town and us not doing any research at all we had a hard time finding somewhere to eat and hang out for the night. We found a hole in the wall hibachi restaurant called VKI Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar and let me just say it was AMAZING!!! This is the best hibachi I have had and if I ever find myself in Destin again I will definitely be going back! After dinner we decided to go try out the bars around town, we were set on using Uber…one problem though Uber is only in parts of Destin so we had to get creative and have a driver pick us up from our resort.

IMG_4957We went to a couple of spots, the first was Tailfins where they had live music and great drinks and atmosphere. It was right on the harbor and you could smell the sea breeze which was awesome! The bartenders there were super nice and gave us girls cozies for our beers which was awesome because we weren’t getting our hands wet. Next up was Coyote Ugly-Destin since none of us had ever been to a Coyote Ugly. I think I might of had my expectations set pretty high but the bar itself was super small considering it was Coyote Ugly and the there wasn’t much of a show going on just a couple of bartenders walking up and down the bar lip singing. The courtyard had an even smaller bar and the DJ out there kept playing the same playlist over and over. Needless to say we had a blast either way!

IMG_4998The next day we had dinner at the Marlin Grill in Baytowne Wharf. This was a very nice restaurant to which we showed up at around 9pm without a reservation and yet the hostess was amazing enough to seat us not only upstairs and outside as we requested but gave us a private and secluded area on one of their balconies. It was a very nice and relaxing setting. The food was very good but a bit over priced. Overall out experience in Destin was pretty fun! On our way back we decided to make a pit stop for lunch in Gulfport, Mississippi  since we were stuck in traffic. Of course we stopped a casino for lunch and some play time. The Island View Casino was our casino of choice, we had lunch at C&G Grille and I grabbed some dessert from the Beignet Café. Gulfport is definitely a place I would love to visit once again and explore some more. It has old world charm with modern amenities.

And now that you have read all about my trip here are the details of my dinner/ bar hopping vacation outfits!

I have purchased my swimwear at various places and have accumulated it throughout the years. Instead of telling you exactly where each piece came from I will tell you where I get my swimwear from. *Note I purchase swimwear at the beginning of the season when there is more variety.

  1. Forever 21
  2. H&M
  3. Walmart (yes I know but I promise they have great styles for a fraction of the price)
